7 quick ways to increse download speed

In this post, I am gonna tell you 7 ways to maximise download speed. So let's move on.

Check your current speed first.

At first you need to check your current download speed. So you get to know if you are already getting the maximum speed. You can check your current speed here.

Difference between MBps and Mbps

Sometime people confuse Mbps with MBps.
But there is a big difference.
MBps: megabytes
Mbps: megabits

So if you get the result 8 Mbps in the test then divide it by 8 and you will get the exact speed,i.e., 1 MBps.

Finally let's get to the point. How to increase download speed.

Some telecom companies tend to promise for huge speed but you will never get near it. So don't waste time on that. You will end up on the same speed. But you can still try these methods.

1. Check for viruses: A big problem for slow speed can be viruses. Some virus are made to consume your bandwidth speed. Download a paid antivirus or go with free antivirus to get rid of these viruses.

2. Go with different modem/router: The biggest problem with slow download speed can be your modem/router while we keep blaming our ISP (Internet Service Provider). Try different modem/router. Check on google the top router/modem in your budget. Make sure your modem/router suits with your internet plan.

3. Antivirus programs can fluctuate: Many times antivirus programs can interfere in download speed. Turn off your antivirus once and then check the download speed. If it is better now than you can uninstall your antivirus program or download any other antivirus program. Because it's better to always have a good virus protection.

4. Try plugging in: Wireless connection is good. But at some points it can slow down the speed. Try plugging the modem/router cable directly with your computer. You will see a sudden increase in speed. I also tried it and helped a lot.

5. Check for external interference: We all have electronic items near us like iphone, ipad, sound system or any other electronic item. Am I right. Then you need to check whether these things are causing electromagnetic interference. Try moving these things out of the way.

6. Check your filters: If you have your internet connected to a phone line that also has a telephone on it then you will need to make sure you have good quality filters installed on your line. These are little plugs that you attach to the phone line and they help filter out the disturbances. Now, these also need to be different for the different types of internet. If you have ADSL2+ or cable make sure you have the appropriate filter.

7. Try turning it of and on:  The last suggestion is often the most powerful one. Turn off your modem for one minute and turn it on again. It is called power cycling and can often flush out a bunch of problems that affect your speed. If you are really brave you can even reconfigure your modem with a new password as this can often refresh your settings at the end of your ISP and refresh connections.

Do you know any other way from which I can improve my modem speed. If yes, then please let me know through comments.
